Day 30- Your thoughts on “The Legend of Zelda- Skyward Sword”
I am excited for this game in the Zelda series. I at first was very hesitant about the overall placement in the timeline and what the kind of story it seemed to be, and the fact that it is only for Wii, but I think I will in fact thoroughly enjoy it. With what we know of the storyline, I absolutely love it. I love that it is a prequel and will tell the story of the beginnings of Hyrule. I also like the fact that the WiiMotion Plus will have you much more involved in the game. I wasn’t so sure about the style of it at first, but it has already grown on me. Cezanne was the inspiration for it, and it makes me happy that designers pull from things that I learn about in my art history class. It isn’t my favorite style, but I still do like it. Overall, I really do not know really what to expect, besides the fact that I will most definitely like it.

Day 29- The video game that had the best opening and the video game that had the best ending
Majora’s Mask. For both accounts. I love the beginning and the ending of this game. It starts out with this very dreamlike slow riding through the woods, when all of the sudden it get turned into a nightmare. The next thing you know, you are turned into a different race, you lost your horse and your instrument, and there’s this kid in a mask laughing at you.
The end of this game is absolutely great as well. After you fight the evil mask, The screen goes white and it says “Dawn of a New Day.” Seeing no time limit underneath the words was a great thing. The time became such much more of an obsession of mine with this game, and seeing the amount of time left, even though I could go back in time, always freaked me out. Not only that, but everything ends off feeling somewhat dream-like, with the Happy Mask Salesman. His movements are weird, and he just disappears off the screen. And then the Skull kid says you smell like the kid that taught him the song a while ago, which you then realize it is in fact the skull kid from Ocarina of Time. The end credits with everything going right is just great and I love it all.

Day 28- A song that you can play on an instrument

I can play some random “warp songs” from Ocarina of Time on the piano if I have the music in front of me, and it’s stupid dinky, like one handed herp derp piano playing. I am slowly teach myself parts of Midna’s Desperate Hour, but that is coming along slow slow slowly seeing as how I am not even trained on the piano. On the guitar I can play the main lines of the Song of Time and Zelda’s Lullaby. And the other day I found a good amount of Zelda sheet music, and can play on my flute Serenade of Water, The Clock Town themes, The warp songs/the songs you play on the Ocarina in Ocarina of Time, Hyrule Castle theme, Grandma theme, Farewell Hyrule King, and the Song of Healing. all the songs I can play are choppy and in the works still and I’m not going to play it for anyone so okay!!!!

Day 27- A part of the triforce you are most like (Power, Wisdom, or Courage): Wisdom
I like to think that I am Wisdom out of all of them. I am in no way power. Although I do a lot of time end up in leader positions, I do not go as far as to consider the “power” of it, or whatever. I have courage, but not enough to give me the Triforce of Courage as mine (ex - wallmasters). But I have a good amount of wisdom. Although I am more of a silly person and a bit at times loopy and crazy, I do have a side of myself where I really put my head into what needs to be done and think things through. When I need to, I use a good amount of Wisdom.

Day 25- Your favorite dungeon/temple: Ganon’s Castle from Ocarina of Time
This isn’t technically a dungeon, I guess, but you still have to go through it and get to the boss, so it counts for me. First off, the when you first walk near this place you’re just like what is going on because in the past it was nice Hyrule castle, peaceful and beautiful. And now in the future it’s dark and ominous and evil. But my overall favorite part of it, that made it get this number one spot for me, is the organ music. When you start out, it starts this extremely faint organ playing. The higher you go up, the louder it gets. And then finally, you get to the room where Ganondorf is playing the organ. This part has staying in my mind for years and years, and everytime I end up in the last dungeon of a Zelda game, I expect to find Ganondorf playing the organ because of this one. It’s kind of silly that the reason this is my favorite dungeon is the music, but it’s true. If I had to go with a different one, I guess I’d go with Goron Mines from Twilight Princess.

ahumanheart here, I have been away and busy for a couple days, but I have my 30 day challenge all queued up on my personal and soon on here it will be caught up as well. Sorry about that, everyone!

Day 24- Favorite instrument used in the game: The Wind Waker
I know a lot of people are probably going to say the Ocarina of Time, and I know that this is more of a baton than an instrument, but this one has to get the number one spot for favorite instrument. You use this baton, which holds the power of the gods, and you control the winds with that. I’m sorry but I have to say that is pretty awesome.

There are many different characters that I grew to love throughout my life and would love to have as my best friend, but I have to go with Skull Kid with this one. At the end of Majora’s Mask, when he goes back to normal, you realize that he is actually really nice. Besides I think that if I was best friends with him, it would really help hinder his whole go crazy and steal and evil mask that brings on the apocalypse thing.

Okay I just cannot take these things, because they pop up all the time. It’s really really annoying. Like, there’s a chest and I’m thinking it’s going to be something really really awesome and good, and then it just turns out to be a freaking butterfly necklace. It annoyed me so much, I could never finish that sidequest. I don’t know. It just really annoyed me.

Day 21- If you could create your own Zelda game, what would be the plot, who would be the characters, the villain, and for which Nintendo system?

Okay this is a real in depth question.

I remember beginning this challenge, I read this question and had it all planned out how I wanted to answer it. I wanted a sequel right after Majora’s Mask, where it would still be the Hero of Time. I loved that Link, and I wanted more of his story. Through the past month though, I’ve been super nerding it up and have been reading different theories and discussions and overall just thoughts about the series, and I no longer really would want to create a game then. This is because if there was a game in that moment of the timeline, many different theories might get discarded, and I personally love reading pretty much every single one.

Instead, I want a Zelda game from before the Hero of Time era. Not Skyward Sword era, but in between those two. In the time of early Hyrule, where the Sheikahs were all alive. I would want it to be about the Sheikah’s relationship - going from good to bad - with the Royal Family. Perhaps Sheik is a real person? Maybe have Impa young in it? I don’t know but I love the Sheikah race and I would love to see a game dedicated to them.  I don’t know where to go with the main characters/enemies/bosses/console/etc. with it, but overall that’s where I’d love to see a Zelda game go.

Day 20- Your favorite battle: Dark Beast Ganon from Twilight Princess
I loved this battle for several different reasons. First off, it was bad ass going into wolf-mode and having Midna help you go against him. The whole animal personification vs. animal personification really just made me love this. The music during this scene is also absolutely great. It really adds to the whole mood of it all and I love it. The entire design of this transformation of the character is great. Really, I love all of the different Ganondorf battles in Twilight Princess (Puppet Zelda, Beast Ganon, Horseback, and the final showdown), but this one comes out to number one for me.

Pretend this was posted yesterday, and the one for today will be posted later.

Day 18- A dimension from any of the games (Hyrule, Termina, Twilight) you would like to live in and which area: Termina
As much as I love all the different lands/dimensions/etc. of the games, I think I would have to pick Termina (along with the fact that Link did in fact stop the whole big ol’ moon crashing into Clock Town and all). I grew up loving the Ocarina of Time Hyrule, and how much I came to love the Twilight Princess Hyrule (my very close second for this day), and as much as I loved the Great Sea (minus how much sailing there was), I have to go with Termina. I love all of the characters that are set in there, and as much as I love Hyrule and its history and the Goddesses and the Triforce and all, I also liked that this Zelda land did not deal with that. You learn about so many of the people’s stories there, that you kind of get attached to them. I would probably live in Clock Town, but I’d want to be able to roam around all the time.

Day 17- Something in “The Legend of Zelda” games that you want to exist in real life

Yet another hard question for me to answer. I used to wish that the series were real, that I lived in all of those lands and that was my life. Sometimes, I still do. I was really big with escapism when I was younger - hell, I still am - and I used to always imagine myself there, living in those times, in those places, with those people. If I had to absolutely pick one thing though that would be real, I think I’d have to choose the Zora race. I always was intrigued by them when I was younger, and to be honesty, I still am. Their race is really interesting and I really wish that they were real becuase I’d want to hang out with them all the time

Day 15- A scene in one of the “Legend of Zelda” games you cried over

I haven’t cried over parts in the game, but there are definitely really sad parts. The saddest was at the end of Twilight Princess when Midna is leaving and she breaks the Mirror of Twilight. It just, kinda destroyed me. No matter how many times I see that scene it hurts. Also in Ocarina of Time after you become an adult and you step outside of the Temple of Time. You’re so excited because you’re now older and stronger, and there is only death and destruction surrounding you in that place. It kind of knocked me by surprise when I first played through. Oh and one more. In Majora’s Mask, when you see the drawing that the skull kid made and you hear the story of him being alone and it’s raining and he’s shivering. They really did great character development with him, and it tore my heart seeing that, still fresh from him trying to destroy the entire town.

Those are the three saddest parts I can think of off the top of my head. There are more but, uhm. Yeah that’s all I guess I’m going for. Oh and pretend this is a half-hour earlier.

This part always sticks out at me. You go down under the sea, and find this huge castle. And everything is black and white and frozen. That part has always just stuck with me, as well as the music that is playing. I can say that I just was not expecting it at all and it was really well done.
